Your Instructor's Biography

Terry R. Altman, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC®

Terry has provided personal financial planning services to clients for nearly thirty years. He has broad familiarity with all its associated subtopics (risk management, income tax and estate issues, retirement plans and employee benefits, investments, and cash flow planning). In addition, he has extensive experience in business continuity and executive benefits planning. Terry taught Risk Management to CFP(r) candidates at Oakland University (MI) for fifteen years. He is a national speaker and subject matter expert to professional societies and broker-dealer groups on topics related to the interaction of risk management with broader financial planning. He specializes in the creation of mortality-based income streams for retirees and addressing risks of death, disability and health care costs within the context of comprehensive financial planning.

Terry resides in Michigan with his lovely wife Julie where they maintain a 501(c)3 nonprofit ministry, tend to their menagerie of household pets and attempt to spoil their grandchildren. When not providing professional financial services or speaking, he plays music professionally. He also enjoys playing golf with a singular lack of distinction.
