Live and Virtual Event Solutions

Couple Education and Entertainment to Deliver a Memorable Experience for Your Organization's Next Event

A Dynamic Team of Presenters

Ruth Flynn Raftery, JD, CPA, AEP® and Jeffrey Hoenle, CFP®, CRPC®, AEP® facilitate a national membership group made up of attorneys, accountants, insurance and financial professionals. The group focuses on providing tools, resources and a platform to foster collaboration in advancing comprehensive planning.  APEG primarily serves financial institutions interested in attracting, developing and retaining financial and insurance professionals.

To advance comprehensive planning, as a dynamic speaking team, Ruth and Jeff offer their substantial lecturing and group coaching experience to organizations seeking to expand their constituent’s knowledge in comprehensive financial planning. They have had the opportunity to coach and develop financial and insurance professionals from around the country and as such have collected information and gathered best practices which they share through live learning and development experiences. Furthermore, their unbiased and product agnostic approach delivers comprehensive and balanced information from their respective professions and experiences.

Ruth’s background in public accounting, specializing in trusts and estates, is strongly rooted in her experience with the ultra-high net worth clients of the east coast. She focuses her educational content on the legal and tax elements of comprehensive financial planning. Her 25-year resume includes organizations such as Deloitte and Thompson Reuters along with experience in business development roles in the accounting, finance and RIA communities working with ultra-high net worth clients.

Jeff combines his experience as a post-graduate college instructor in the CFP® curriculum and a practicing financial planner in the mid-west to produce educational material that is both academic and practical in nature. He can take an in-depth topic and boil it down into easy-to-understand components that can be effectively communicated to the financial planning client. Jeff has a track record of delivering comprehensive material in an energetic and humorous way to ensure the audience is not just educated but also entertained.

To address a variety of institutional needs in the marketplace, APEG offers a myriad of live educational and group coaching opportunities including:

  • Topical education designed for a group lecture setting
  • Small-group educational and coaching workshops
  • Two-day courses delivering academic information focused on foundational elements of a financial plan

Professional Speakers for Your Event

Topical Education for Lecture Sessions

APEG organizes topics to either address goals and issues found in the five key segments of a family’s financial plan or to aid the practitioner in strengthening their practice.

Most education in the financial industry can fit into one of three categories which are either purely academic education, sales training or product training. However, each of these buckets have their shortfalls. Academic education is usually accurate and specific to a single discipline but fails to be coordinated to address a planning goal. Sales training helps to improve communication efficiency but usually doesn’t provide any academic knowledge. Product training discusses the unique features and benefits of a product, and only occasionally identifies a goal it is was designed to address.

APEG crafts its Goal-Based education to address a specific client goal or issue and then compiles a combination of academic education, communication techniques and product categories that could assist the professional in addressing that specific goal. As such, the audience benefits from efficient and practical education that can be immediately utilized in their practice. APEG focuses on commonly found goals within the five widely recognized financial planning segments.

Most courses are eligible for CFP® Continuing Education credit and can be formatted for 60 minute or 90 minute timeslots with CE adjusting accordingly. (Abbreviated modules available upon request.)

Live Workshops and Course Delivery

2 Day Foundations Course
2-Day Foundations of Financial Planning Course

The Foundations of Financial Planning course by APEG is designed to provide the participant with a well-rounded knowledge of foundational information needed for comprehensive financial planning. The five key segments of financial planning including estate planning, tax planning, insurance planning, income planning and investment planning are covered over a 16-contact hour period. In addition, an industry overview is included as well as a discussion on an approach to financial planning.

This course has been developed for new entrants into the industry, paraplanners supporting holistic planners and practitioners that have been focused on a specific segment of planning that want to round-off their knowledge and expand their service offering to include comprehensive financial planning.

Small Group Educational
Small Group Educational Workshops

Available in half-day, one-day and two-day formats, APEG can adapt any of the lecture topics to a format that includes educational material followed by a moderated group discussion. Ruth and Jeff would lead the group to develop approaches to monetize their knowledge by developing marketing and business development strategies to attract new clients or expand their service offerings to existing clients.

Client interview techniques will be explored that help to focus the client and gather information necessary to efficiently address the client goals associated with the topic.

The workshops would also feature role playing examples of client discussion points to improve efficiency in utilizing this newly acquired planning knowledge. Case studies will be examined to highlight both opportunities and liabilities in advanced planning.

These workshops have been developed for seasoned planners with at least 2 years of planning experience and ideally 5 years or more in the financial services industry.
